TEKS B.5DMisconception 2: DNA-Only Genetic Blueprint

Task 1

Identify genomes

A genome is an organism's (or virus's) complete genetic code. Sort these six cards into "Not a Genome," "Genome — DNA," or "Genome — RNA."

mRNA strand

A single copied message, made from one gene to build one protein.

tRNA molecule

A small helper molecule that carries amino acids to the ribosome.

Double-stranded DNA genome

A complete genetic blueprint, two strands, contains thymine.

Single-stranded DNA genome

A complete genetic blueprint, one strand, contains thymine.

Double-stranded RNA genome

A complete genetic blueprint, two strands, contains uracil.

Single-stranded RNA genome

A complete genetic blueprint, one strand, contains uracil.
